We have a need to be loved, we were created that way. With that thought in mind, with the need to be loved being detrimental to our very being, it's no shock that loving yourself is seen with the same idea. It is often easier to talk about loving others and seeing the best in other people or thinking highly of others, but what about our view of ourselves? Why can we give compliments to others and struggle with positive words about the person in the mirror? What makes it so challenging to look to love who we are. And see ourselves in a positive light?

The answer to that question starts with knowing how much we are loved and knowing who we belong to.

Psalm 36:7-8 MSG says "How exquisite your love, O God! How eager we are to run under your wings. TO eat our fill at the banquet you spread."

John 3:16-18 MSG

You are loved and your primary need is to be loved. Your value never changes, but your effectiveness does. Once you know your value and understand that it can never, ever change, you begin to become more effective.

Once we know we are loved and belong, we start to become. It's impossible to hang out with someone consistently without becoming. Which is why spending time with God is crucial to our relationship with him, with others, and how we view ourselves.
